THE WORD OF GOD IS SURE page 3

by Jim Brenay

A little known fact, did you know that there is not one scripture in the new testament, not even a hint, that the church is the bride. Revelation 21:9-10 says "come hither, I will show thee the bride, the Lamb's wife." And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God. Now we know that no one is going to marry a city. The city here is representative of Israel, the man child according to the flesh. Galatians 4:22-26 says it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. I realize that this is a hard passage to understand, but try to follow along. This Ishmael from the bondwoman is thus representative of Israel under bondage to the first covenant, the covenant of the law of sin and death. This covenant could only point out Israels’ sins and provide for a covering or atonement for those sins. Nevertheless Romans 5:14 says death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression. The other son, Isaac, the son of promise, is representative of the children of the new covenant, born of the Holy Spirit, the Father God. Romans 8:29 Jesus is the firstborn among many brethren not brides, as some clergy would have you to believe. Now if you want to be a bride, you will not be able to marry, or come into relationship to the bridegroom, until after the marriage supper of the lamb. You have a problem, because Jesus said in Luke 20:35 they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, meaning heaven, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: So if you are wanting to get married to Jesus, forget it, that is not going to happen. Are we a weird bunch? Wanting to marry our head, or our brother. Hebrews 2:9-11 says we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, Our Heavenly Father, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation, Jesus, perfect through sufferings. For both he that sanctifieth, Jesus, and they who are sanctified, us, are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren. We all have the same Father, do you want to marry your brother? Colossians 1:18 says he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. You mean the body is going to marry its own head? We have one more strong thing to say about this Roman bride doctrine. Revelation 17:5 says and upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. Rome has the bride, and that whole system is called an ABOMINATION. Revelation 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. Revelation 1:6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; Kings and priests have authority, sonship is authority. When we deny our position in Christ, as his body, a male son of god, We are like 2 Timothy 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: The power is in sonship, and sanctification. All power in heaven and earth is in the Sons.
